Student of the Month

Grace Meng

Grace is a Grade 1 student at Country Day School, a private school in La Jolla. She joined Belle Melodie in early autumn 2023, when she was almost six years old.

She is taking piano lessons with Meixuan, cello lessons with Gaiana, vocal lessons with Julia, and theory lessons with Joyce. She also participates in a long-term music theatre group class with Tracey and occasionally plays in ensembles.

Initially, she cried frequently when starting her music journey, but now she handles it well and no longer cries.

She has performed in every recital, improving each time under the spotlight. She enjoys dressing up and wearing makeup for her performances. She passed the ABRSM Level 2 piano exam last November and will take the Level 3 exam in May this year.

She practices piano and cello every day for a total of around 1 to 1.5 hours. She has a white baby grand piano at home and enjoys playing it with her puppy.

She has a beautiful voice and accurate pitch, and she loves singing all the Disney songs. She never misses a music theatre class, where she sings loudly and happily with her singing buddies.

Although she is not from a music-background family—her dad enjoys singing karaoke but does not play any instruments—she has shown remarkable dedication and progress.

She has been selected as the first Student of the Month for her rapid progress, confidence on stage, and hard work. Congratulations!
